Fornells és un poble situat a la badia del mateix nom, forma part del municipi de Mercadal i té una població de més de 1000 habitants, encara que aquesta xifra augmenta considerablement a l'estiu. De fet, és una localitat molt animada les nits d'estiu amb un gran ambient de restaurants i paradetes "hippies".

La badia de Fornells, d'una gran bellesa natural, és perfecta per practicar esports de vela, excursionisme en barca i submarinisme. També compta amb els més afamats restaurants de "caldereta de llagosta" de tota l'illa.
